Bowel Movements

The color, consistency, and volume of stool depend on the type of stoma (small intestine or large intestine).
A small-bowel stoma continuously produces stool ranging from thin to mushy, while a large-bowel stoma discharges mushy to formed stool in small amounts once or several times a day.
